Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

AVIF2012 - Monitor the transfer of hazardous materials

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Monitor the transfer of hazardous materials on an aerodrome

  1. Location and timing of transfer is determined
  2. Hazards are identified, risks are assessed and hazard management is implemented
  3. Transfer of hazardous material is monitored to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures
  4. Breaches of standard operating procedures are logged and reported
  5. Apron areas are inspected for serviceability and identified spills, leakages or damage are reported

  4. Operational procedures and equipment for responding to a hazardous materials incident are employed
  5. Notice to Airman (NOTAM) advisory action is taken or cancelled as required
  6. Awareness of work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) and environmental implications of a spill is maintained
  7. Spill clean-up or control operations are supervised
  8. Hazardous material incident register and records are maintained
